Honor Pledge: "As a woman of Honor, I pledge that this work is my own".
Welcome to the 2017
-2018 school year. Here are the expectations and rules for Mr.
Marchand's Social Studies classes.
Expectations
1.
Students should
respect themselves. This includes eating something every morning before
coming to school. Students who don't eat something (even a pop tart or
a bowl of cereal) usually "run out of gas" about 10:30 or so and have a
great deal of trouble concentrating. Care for yourself and your needs.
2.
Students should
respect others in the class. Students are expected to support other
students in appropriate ways and to refrain from any negative or
derogatory comments about any other person. Amelioration,
not Approbrium!
3. A
primary component
of all of the courses is to read something every night. Most nights
there will be assigned readings that follow up material covered in
class that day. Students who read the sections and do the homework as a
review will consistently take less time and retain more than students
who try to find phrases in the assigned section.
1.
Proper uniform at
all times unless specified by school activity or policy. Respect
yourself and your class by dressing appropriately.
2. No
gum
7. No
ear bud/IPod
use in class unless specifically addressed in an IEP. Students may
listen to music while doing individual seat work. Otherwise, ear buds
are to be put away.
8.
One person at a time
to the rest room. . Sometimes it is necessary for two students to go to
the rest
room. This exception should not be overused or abused.
9. No homework
for other classes, remember it's called
HOMEwork.
10. Any
disciplinary issue will require a one or two paragraph essay from the
student explaining the circumstances of the infraction. It is requested
that each student concentrate on her own behavior and not cite the
behavior of others in her explanation. It is hoped that the student and
Mr. Marchand can agree on the problem, and find a permanent solution
that will prevent the problem from happening again.
11. The procedure
described in #10 does not apply to CHEATING or PLAGIARISM. Plagiarism
includes copying other student's work and acquiring papers from
internet sources. Cheating and Plagiarism will result in immediate
consequences. While other disciplinary issues will not affect a
student's grade, Cheating and Plagiarism will result in a "0" for the
test or project, and will impact the grade of the student.
12. No phones at
any time
13. No gum EVER!!!
14. All email contact with teachers and
other students is to be done using @mercyhighschool.com email. Email
must be professonal and polite.
